Lucknow — The library of Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow, marked National Librarians’ Day to commemorate the 133rd birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, widely regarded as the father of library science in India.
The ceremony was graced by the college’s Acting Principal, Dr. (Major) Neerja Masih, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Paul Mathew from the Department of Education as the Special Guest. On the occasion, medals and certificates were awarded to eight volunteer students of the library by the distinguished guests.
Earlier, Dr. P. Alex from the Department of Library and Information Science commenced the programme with a prayer. This was followed by a presentation by College Librarian Dr. Umesh Prasad, who highlighted the evolving significance of libraries in today’s world.

The event not only celebrated the legacy of Dr. Ranganathan but also underscored the vital role libraries continue to play in fostering knowledge and community engagement.
